DIAMOND NEEDLES/GLITTER ALLEY --- INTRO

Diamond Needles is a novel written under the influence of rock n roll. It's when the lyrics and the beat take over and drive. And where they drive you to. Fast and hard. Cruising and smooth. Hard rock, metal, blues rock, pop rock, glam rock ---- it's all rock n roll. Be there. It's the 1970s and the biggest free concert since Woodstock is about to rock the Rockies. Diamond Needles. You can read it by the dashboard light.

Glitter Alley is a song written after the concert by one of the characters, True Bowman. Glitter Alley is also a place. It's also this blog.

"Book after book

I get hooked

Everytime the writer

Talks to me like a friend." Marc Bolan, "Spaceball Richocet"

Synopsis:

Max Thisbee, street rocker and out of work journalist, flies from L.A. to Colorado for the biggest free concert since Woodstock and to hang out with musician mates. Shaman's Pow Wow for World Peace is Rocking the Rockies! But before Max can even unpack his typewriter and guitar, death crashes the concert. The ex-wife of Jonny Fey, glam rock's biggest star and concert headliner, is dead of an overdose. If the scene points to accident, why is it suddenly so deadly to ask, "What if it wasn't?" When Max's musician friend Angel does just that and disappears, Max and mates go looking for him and for answers while trying desperately not to get themselves or anyone else killed. Three murders, a lethal cut of heroin on the streets and a man insane with a gun. Will anyone there get out alive? It's Death's gig now.

Music, thrills, suspense --- mystery, and magick. Long before urban fantasy became a genre, I was writing it. While listening to Marc Bolan, David Bowie, Alice Cooper, and Mick Farren and The Pink Fairies (along with others like Ian Hunter, Roxy Music, The Sweet, The Doors, The Bee Gees pre-disco and Donovan, etc.) the music-magicks merged into the novel and short stories I was writing which had been influenced by the symbolists, decadents and art nouveau and Lovecraft, Poe, Wilde, R. W. Chambers, fairytales and Tolkien. Probably, though, Marc Bolan has to be credited with mixing his elves and wizards with guitars and motorcycles -- at least for me.

New cover added to Diamond Needles.  I didn't go with the black and white guitars but designed a new cover--one that goes with the back cover which I have always liked.  Lower price too.   Still at Lulu--and now also with an ISB; available on Amazon.

In the meantime--sadly--we've lost Mick Farren.  And I don't even know what to say--except, Thanks, Mick.
